When Christ was baptised the Holy Spirit descended upon him, and when Christ returned to his rightfull position in Heaven the Holy Spirit was then given to all of Mankind. That Spirit now resides in all who believe in Christ as Lord and savior, and we are all adopted into his family as sons and duaghters. For it is written "And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased" - Matthew 3:17
